The land owners now become the owners of land and building of ‘Triveni’ theatre of nearly 50 years in cinema exhibition.

It was Mayor Subbanna a Congress leader owned the land and given it as lease to BCS Narayan a reputed exhibition in the last 60’. At this land Triveni theatre was built and he maintained the business of it from ‘Vatsalya’ (1965 Kannada film starring Dr Rajakumar and Leelavathi in YR Swamy direction) to ‘Whistle’.

After facing a legal battle for over a decade with BCS Narayan the children of former Mayor Subbanna have successfully won the battle and all papers were transferred to generation next of Subbanna.

Accordingly Umesh, Manjula Umesh, Dev Kumar, Pawan Kumar, Swarna Gowri, Sripriya are having rights in theatre management. They have formed ‘Uma Dev Enterprises’ for future business transactions.

Addressing the media on Friday morning at Triveni theatre the family members have decided not to demolish the theatre for a multiplex. Even the name of the theatre will be same. We are adding new facilities like new seats, sounds, UFO system, better amenities etc says Manjula Umesh.

The contract of forty years lease came to an end and children are now left with happiness of enjoying the future of Triveni business. We give firs preference to Kannada films. MN Kumar is helping us out in getting theatres.

When the lease period began with investment of Triveni theatre construction from BCSNarayan a monthly rent of Rs.750 was fixed for first 10 years. Later it was raised from 1050 to 1500 till a few months ago.
